Skin as an organ is a border, a passage, it connects inside and outside. It is a channel, a container that allows us to feel, to be sensitive. Sottopelle (Under Skin) is an attempt to mix boundaries, to investigate where dance begins and where it ends. What is inside Dance’s skin? What is inside the dancers’ skin, inside the skin of those who hold Dance?

Dance is movement, and movement is change. Dance creates consequences, it starts engines. And it especially does so in the people who create dance every day, dancers. How did dance infiltrate their life, their body, their skin, and why is it a nice place to stay in?

To these and other questions, the dancers of Balletto Teatro di Torino give an answer through a series of video interviews for the communication project Sottopelle (Under Skin), conceived and produced by Chiara Guarini, an insider and friend of the company. Chiara trained as a classical and contemporary dancer at the School of Balletto Teatro di Torino and has extended her artistic research to other fields, such as interior and graphic design, communication, and visual arts, while always nurturing dance as an instrument of training, personal expression, and perception of the world.
